Shannon GarsonAbout Shannon

Shannon Garson is an award-winning ceramicist, writer, curator, and the President of The Australian Ceramics Association. Her lifelong interest in ceramics extends beyond her own studio practice to include a range of multidisciplinary projects.

Garson began her career as a painter in 1985 and completed a degree in Visual Arts, majoring in Painting and Literature, at Queensland University of Technology in 1993. While working at Amfora Gallery in Brisbane, she began experimenting with throwing her own vessels to use as three-dimensional canvases for her designs. Since then, the synergy between painting and porcelain has become characteristic of Garson’s work. She is best-known for her delicate utilitarian objects that are heavily decorated with colour washes, dynamic sgraffito designs and oxide drawings.
