THE WINDOW PROJECT![]() The Window Project is a partnership conceived by the QUT School of Design Interior Design discipline and artisan, to provide opportunities for students to work collaboratively on small scale retail and exhibition design projects. QUT Design students teamed up with artisan staff to develop a concept aligned to artisan's exhibition and retail program, with supervisory assistance provided by QUT lecturers. The program fosters real world engagement and networking, and allows students to showcase their talents in the public realm as an introduction to professional practice. About UPCYCLE-RECYCLE-REPURPOSE
Upcycle, Recycle, Repurpose is a collaborative shop-front installation which showcases resourceful Queensland design using the key philosophy of upcycling - giving pre-used materials new functionality. Exploring the notion of 'framing' in a retail sense, the QUT student team took readily available materials - picture frames and pallets and repurposed them to create a new framing and display device, which pays homage to the craftsmanship of artisan's wares. A unique story and textural, yet transparent aesthetic, gives focus to the refined objects on display and encourages exploration of more products within the store.
Design team students: Karlee Blackburn, Simone Lockley, James Luu, Jonathan Morehen and Vanessa Parker.
Lecturer in Interior Design: Natalie Wright.
![]() This month in our retail windows we have Kent Gration's Wambamboo furniture range and Holloway Eyewear.
