Artisan is Queensland’s Centre for Craft and Design. It is a not for profit orgnisation dedicated to the presentation and advancement of authentic and innovative craft and design practice.

Artisan presents, promotes and celebrates excellence in craftsmanship and design. Our commitment and passion comes to life in our vibrant, high quality exhibitions. We thrive on our collaboration with artisans and designers from across Australia and the world.

The artisan vision

Artisan supports design creatives from emerging talent to living legends. We develop and launch local talent in the global marketplace and bring the finest international craft and design to Australians. Vision: Representing excellent and desirable contemporary Australian craft and design.

Craft & design network

The network of Australian Craft and Design Centres (ACDC) is a group of peak organisations from all states and territories in Australia that represent the professional craft and design sector. The organisations engage with the sector at a local, national and international level and offer services and programs that support sustainable practice.

What we do

Artisan champions sector advocacy, leadership, partnerships through the creation of opportunities including:

  • Exhibition development, touring, and export
  • Online and in store retail
  • Artist referrals, projects and critical writing
  • Education, public programs, mentoring and business development
  • Corporate gifts and commissioning

Through these initiatives, artisan builds markets and develops audiences, enabling a self-sustaining and strong creative sector.
